3 simple but amazing smoothies to kickstart your healthy morning!

Smoothies are a great way to start the morning. It’s feels amazing to finish a large smoothie. They can be very filling, they are easy to make and easy to bring with you.

Greenie with mango and spinach

This is the one to pick if you want to sneak some extra greens into your diet. You get a beautiful color, a sweet taste and extra nutrition because of the spinach. Although the smoothie is sweet and delicious, it’s not nearly as sweet as a pure fruit smoothies because the greens balance it out. This smoothie is perfect if you prefer a less sweet taste.

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas

100g frozen mango

1 handful of spinach

0,8 cup / 2 dl water (You can adjust the amount of water if you like it thinner or thicker than the recipe suggests)

How it’s done:

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until it’s completely smooth. Eat it right away or bring it with you.

Banana strawberry

This is a very classic combination, but still very delicious.

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas

100g strawberries

0,8 cup / 2 dl water (You can adjust the amount of water if you like it thinner or thicker than the recipe suggests)

How it’s done:

Blend all the ingredients until you have a smooth consistency.

Yellow Exotic

Exotic fruit isn’t cheap all over the world, but luckily you can find them frozen almost anywhere. The combination of frozen and fresh fruit makes the temperature and consistency of the smoothie delicious.

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas

100g frozen mango

The juice of 1 orange

0,6 cup / 1,5 dl coconut milk light

How it’s done:

Put the bananas and the mango in a blender. Add the orange juice and coconut milk. Blend it until it’s completely smooth.

Blood pressure lowering smoothie

There’s a story behind this smoothie. The story is, that I love smoothies in the morning. I feel my best after a big smoothie with plenty of fruit. But I don’t enjoy beets. It’s not that I don’t like them, I just don’t enjoy them, and I really wanna enjoy all my food. I’m sure you can relate.

I also want to implement more beets in to my diet because of their blood pressure lowering effect [1, 2, 3]. I don’t suffer from high blood pressure but it runs in my family.

Recently I figured out how to use beets in a smoothie. The fruit doesn’t cover the taste of beet, but it compliments it. It also have a really beautiful color, and it makes me happy to look at. I’m truly excited and grateful for all the healthy nutrition and plant chemicals, that are available to me in my life. I actually have the option to nourish my body with healthy, tasty and beautiful plants <3

Here’s the recipe and I hope you enjoy it <3

Ingredients:

3 bananas

1 peeled beetroot

1 apple

80g blueberries

A bit ginger (Optional)

Water or orange juice

How it’s done:

Blend all the ingredients together. Adjust the water / juice after the consistency you prefer.

Cacao smoothie

I really enjoy a smoothie in the morning, and so does the kids. Usually we make fruit smoothies, but sometimes it’s nice to make it extra delicious. This smoothie is still suitable as a healthy meal. If you didn’t know already, cacao is actually very rich in zinc, which is one of the minerals you need to be aware of on a plant-based diet if you don’t eat a big variety of foods. I add the sesame seeds because they are very nutritious, especially when it comes to calcium, and since I do not serve dairy for the kids at home, it’s important to me to make sure they get it elsewhere.

Ingredients:

3 bananas (I use 2 frozen and 1 fresh to get a nice milkshake-like consistency)

3 dates

1 tbsp. unsweetened cacao powder

1 tbsp. sesame seeds (Optional)

7 oz / 2 dl almond milk (Or whichever you prefer).

How it’s done:

Blend all the ingredients together.

For one portion of strawberry smoothie you need:

    • 3 ripe bananas
    • 1 cup of strawberries
    • 1 tpsp. sesame seeds (Optional, but it gives the smoothie a calcium boost)
    • 1 cup of water or plant-based milk.

How it’s done:

  • Blend it all up and enjoy
  • Tip: You can adjust the thickness by adding more og less water / plant-based milk.
